About Us

We took up residence at Rogeston in the far west of Wales along with our two children and assorted family pets, in 1974.

Thus began the sometimes arduous task of converting the old ramshackle 7 acre smallholding into what has become a distinctive group of cottages which we named  pembrokeshire-cottage-holidays.

The extensive gardens and fields with an assortment of ducks, hens and cows adds to the charm of this unspoilt country setting.

pembrokeshire-cottage-holidays is tucked away in the far west of the old county of Pembrokeshire, on a delightfully obscure country lane amongst a maze of minor roads. Close to stunning beaches, bridle paths and coastal as well as inland walks, the PembrokeshireCoastal National Park with its 180 miles of coastal path starts at the top of our lane. pembrokeshire-cottage-holidays being 1 ½ miles from our nearest beach, Druidstone, is the ideal location for a peaceful and secluded holiday.

The farm atmosphere is an integral part of pembrokeshire-cottage-holidays appeal especially for children.   We are always delighted to have children`s help in feeding our ducks and hens, collecting eggs and feeding our pet Jersey cows (well behaved adults are also allowed).   A firm favourite with our visitors is the farm trail, it takes you through the lovely willow, ash, oak and chestnut trees that we planted in the early days, over streams with little bridges, it`s our little garden path that leads you through the trees.   Rogeston flower gardens, vegetable gardens, the greenhouse and the fields are all run on an organic system but we are not registered as an organic holding.

We are often asked about the name Rogeston.   It seems to be a corruption of "Rogers Farm" but the earliest record we have been able to find of the property is of a Villa Rogeri, noted in documents dated 1352.   Since then the name has changed to  Rogeriston (found in a register dated 1370) and in records dated 1592 the name has become Rogeston, no trace now remains of these very early buildingsThe building date and what we think are the builders initials are chiselled into the stone wall at the back of   Heather Cottage 1798/9.    The Granary has the date 1895 in the stonework and the date has been stamped into one of the beams  in Lower Granary.    Parts of the farmhouseare  probably about three hundred years old, but this is guesswork as the earliest date stamp we have is on one of the roof trusses painted 1875.

Druidstone beach which can be reached in approximately five minutes by car, or it can be a leisurely walk through winding lanes and bridle paths which provide a profusion of wild flowers and fruits.   Rabbits, foxes and badgers are often seen on this delightful country walk.   This beach will always be a firm favourite with us.
